International Harp
Therapy Program
IHTP trains practitioners to assist recipients in healing or transitioning in a supportive and compassionate environment. At the core of the program is the recognition that each individual has their own resonant tone, preferred musical styles, and rhythm (for example breathing rate), in any given moment. Combining these elements, the therapeutic harpist offers the recipient their own personal musical journey to enhance quality of life and help them in emotional, mental, physical and spiritual healing. Skilled practitioners play at the bedside and in many other settings, and also engage people with interactive music-making when appropriate.
Australian Affiliate
The IHTP course now runs as an affiliate program here in Australia, in a blended format of online and experiential workshops. It comes with full support from the original course, with the added advantage of local teachers and mentors. Our program has much to offer both experienced and fledgling harpers.

Study Protocols
Across two Modules, techniques developed include modal music, improvisation, and repertoire in many styles. We study music theory and the physics of sound. Interpersonal skills are also fostered. Students record their harp playing and upload written assignments such as book reports and reflection papers with guidance and support from a mentor.
To complete Module 2, internship hours of live playing are required.
